How Is Your Interior Advertising? Sign Audit

describe the imageAnyone who has read any of my books or has heard me speak will know how passionate I am about the topic of Interior Advertising, aka Signage. I believe it is the most misunderstood and under-utilized tool in retailing today.

Signage can enhance the customer’s experience as well as making significant sales increases. That is why I am finally finishing my book, Signs Sell. I have published it for specific industries and am now finishing the all-encompassing book for all retailers.

The following is an excerpt from the book which is a Sign Audit that will help you to assess your interior advertising. The score is important, but it's more important for you to read all of the questions and think about the possibilities. Signage works. Signs Sell.

There are 50 questions. Each question is worth 2 points. At the end there is an answer key and AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOUR SCORES MEAN.

Signs, signs, seems everywhere there are signs. Does memory serve correctly that was an Arlo Guthrie song?

With a sales floor space of approx. 400 sq.ft. optimum use of signs is critical.

I'd like to know how others are making their signs.

My signs always look amateurish, even when made with Publisher on the computer. THen, how to fix them to the displays is always a problem. Tape? What else is there?

I wish there was someone other than myself who would be capable of taking care of signs, but I'm it.

I'd love suggestions.

My signs are crummy looking, outdated or non existant where needed. Help!

Our signs always look crummy and amateurish as well. I'd love to use a professional more but our sales and products change so quickly that it makes it cost prohibitive. If any one has any suggestions, I'd sure like to see them.
